Capabilities

  • We remodel residential homes in the South Bay, California area. Our firm can (and has) done it all: whole home builds, additions, kitchens, bathrooms, living rooms, and every residential area you can imagine.

  • A design-build company provides architectural design, interior design, and construction services under one roof. In a traditional remodeling project, you’d first hire an interior design firm, who then might hire an architectural designer, and then you find a separate construction company to bring the designs to life. This way of working can be disjointed, where you (the client) are the middle man between multiple parties, and there can be miscommunications from so many separate teams being involved. With our design-build approach, you have one single point of accountability, and our designers and construction teams are on the same page from the beginning.

  • We take your investment seriously. Before we even start a project with you, we’ll come to your home to get a sense of you, your lifestyle, and your vision. Once we’re working together, we provide three different design options for every project, which empowers you to visually make the right decision for the project. As we work together, you’ll get weekly meeting updates, a dedicated project manager, and a controlled (and fun!) experience. We take customer service seriously, and we’re proud to say that our clients have given us a 93% satisfaction rate, which is extraordinarily high in the often-stressful world of remodeling.

Process

  • As part of our initial process, we’ll be presenting you with three varying design options for the intended space. By visualizing what’s possible, you’ll likely have a gut feeling about what direction is best for you and/or your family. Outside of your gut feeling, our team of specialists understand the ins and outs of design and construction, and we’ll be able to help you weigh the pros and cons of each direction accordingly.

  • We provide an organized, controlled, and (as much as we can) stress-free experience from beginning to end. Check out our process page for details about what this looks like.

  • We sure do! Our El Segundo design center is a collaborative space that you’ll visit when we begin our project. Clients come meet the design and production teams while exploring full-scale kitchen and bathroom designs for ideas.

  • Most of the meetings will be at our design center in El Segundo, CA. Our first meeting will be at your home (to meet each other and scope out the project), and you’ll generally have meetings at our design center to select cabinetry, materials, and make some exciting design decisions. Once construction starts, you’ll have a weekly meeting on site with the field supervisor or project manager.

  • While there will be time required for very important project decisions, we’ll follow your lead on involvement. Our goal is to provide as stress-free of an experience as possible. For some, that looks like minimal time involvement, where we provide updates and only reach out to the client for pertinent decisions. For others, that looks like lots of collaboration, with frequent communication and meetings for all of the pieces to come together. Our team takes pride in our flexibility, and we’ll work to your preferred style to minimize or maximize your involvement in the project.

Construction

  • We know that remodeling can be stressful. Our compassionate team implements both qualitative and quantitative measures to help put you and/or your family at ease while we’re bringing your dream home to life. Qualitatively, our 30-year-old business is committed to fine craftsmanship and detail, so you can rest easy knowing that you’re getting the best of the best in workmanship. Quantitatively, we’ve found that frequent communication with clients is key, and we’ll be providing you with daily updates throughout construction in addition to weekly meetings. You’ll feel taken care of, and many clients are sad to see our team leave at the end of a project!

  • The construction time required depends on the size and scope of the project, but our commitment to making construction stress-free is always of utmost importance. We’ll figure out the ideal schedule, communicate in advance when the crew will be there, and do our best to be minimally invasive as best as we can.

  • Absolutely not. Our team recognizes that we’re guests in your home, and we’ll clean up after each day is done so your family can relax and night.

  • We do everything we can to minimize our work’s effect on your neighbors. When we first start construction, we introduce ourselves to your neighbors (complete with gift baskets) so they feel comfortable communicating with us if/when we cross paths. We believe in the power of details, to the point where our porta-potty is beautifully designed, so the renovation has less impact on your street while we’re at work.

Costs & Financing

  • While the design and construction of a home renovation project is very important, often a bigger concern is how best to pay for your remodel. An integral part of Custom Design & Construction’s complete set of services is providing clients with unmatched solutions for home remodeling financing.

    We’ve streamlined and simplified the financing phase for our clients as part of our process. All our financing options offer no points, closing costs, fees of any kind and you will never be penalized if you choose to pay off the balance early.

  • While providing home design and remodeling services since 1988, Custom Design & Construction has come to understand that one of the greatest challenges in home remodeling can be figuring out how to finance the project. Often, renovation loans can take weeks or months to obtain. They can delay the project and add thousands of dollars of additional bank costs, points and fees. This is why we offer financing options with no closing costs, fees, or early payment penalties.
